How to Prepare Your Children for a Photoshoot

Are you planning to have professional family photos taken, but not sure how to prepare your "minis" for the photoshoot? Here are some tips to help you get your little ones ready for their close-up:

  1. Talk to your kids about the photoshoot beforehand: Let them know what to expect and what you’ll be doing during the photoshoot. This can help them feel more comfortable and less anxious about the experience.
  2. Ensure your children are rested: Keep their normal bedtime routine the night before a photoshoot so your little ones are well-rested for the photoshoot! Also, try to schedule your photoshoot around nap time! Kids who are in their normal routine are much happier and much more willing to participate in your family photos!
  3. Choose the right clothes: You want your children to look and feel their best, so choose clothes that fit well and are comfortable for them to wear. Avoid clothing with busy patterns or logos, as these can be distracting in photos.
  4. Plan for snacks and breaks: Photoshoots can take a while, especially if you have multiple children. Make sure to pack snacks and drinks to keep your kids fueled and hydrated. It’s also a good idea to plan for breaks to allow your kids to stretch their legs and take a break from the camera.
  5. Bring along some props or toys: Bringing along some of your children’s favorite toys or props can help to keep them engaged and entertained during the photoshoot. This can also help to add some personality and uniqueness to your photos.
  6. Practice some poses beforehand: If you have specific poses in mind for your family photos, it can be helpful to practice them with your kids beforehand. This can help them feel more comfortable and natural in front of the camera.
  7. Don’t force it: Remember that children are unpredictable, and sometimes things just don’t go as planned. If your child is having a hard time during the photoshoot, don’t push them to continue. It’s better to reschedule for a time when they are feeling more cooperative.
By following these tips, you can help to prepare your children for their photoshoot and ensure that you get the best family photos. Just remember to relax and have fun, and let C Sandidge Photgraphy handle the rest!
